The Diary of a Young Girl (Anne Frank)
安妮日记
推荐人:Snow
[book and movie]
Genre: historical diary
Summary
The Diary Of A Young Girl is the real diaryof a teenage girl that begins on Anne’s 13th birthday (12 June 1942) when shegets a diary. It tells the story of her family who live in Frankfurt, Germanyand suddenly have to go into hiding as a result of Hitler and the Nazi Party’streatment of Jews in Europe during the second world war. They escape to Amsterdamwhere they go into hiding with other Jews. The diary ends suddenly on 1 August1944.
There are many important messages in thisbook, but the most important message is that all people have the right to livein freedom. Anne’s story shows us that just because people may be a differentreligion or race, doesn’t mean that they should be treated differently. Theterrible treatment of Jewish people during the war has shown this. Her diaryshows us things that people don’t think about now, for example how every daythe people in hiding worried about maybe being found and punished.
Why we recommend it
Anne Frank’s published diary is differentfrom a typical literary work. It’s a true account of the life of oneJewish girl during the Holocaust, and, while Anne Frank wrote somepassages with publication in mind, others she did not. When the book was firstpublished, many passages that her father, Otto Frank, found too long, unflattering, or inappropriate were excluded. Today, the book is available withall material included. Gaining some understanding of this horrific genocide iscrucial to students.
I would recommend this book to anyone whohas an interest in reading historical, war or mystery books as it is sointeresting. This book would be suitable for people aged ten upwards since itis very sad in places.
